Extensions to period properties always provide additional challenges, to seamlessly integrate the existing roof with the new.
This was no different when we were engaged by Cheshire Joinery and Kitchens on a two storey house extension recently in Grappenhall.
The existing roof comprises of Westmorland Green diminishing random slate roof and the client was rightly intent on retaining all the original features of the existing roof.
To this end, Youngs were able to source reclaimed Westmorland slate with a near perfect match to the original.
Using traditional methods of lead valleys and diminishing slate courses, Youngs have replicated a mirror image of the existing roof totally in keeping of the original materials and methods of craftsmanship. Needless to say the client was delighted!
